Defender who completed permanent switch to Vale Park after successful loan spell in the 2021/22 season.
Versatile defender Cass initially joined Vale on loan from Newcastle United in the summer of 2021, making his debut in a Carabao Cup clash against Sunderland at Vale Park and made a total of 27 appearances in all competitions before an ankle injury curtailed his campaign in January 2022.
Cass provided support to his teammates and the club’s backroom staff during the second-half of his loan spell with the Valiants, and his previous performances and positive influence earned him a permanent move to the club this summer.
A graduate of the Magpies’ Academy, Cass spent ten years at St. James’ Park and made the first team matchday squad on two occasions, firstly in a 4-0 victory at Fulham in May 2019 and then an Emirates FA Cup tie at Rochdale seven months later.
The following season, Cass experienced his first taste of senior football in a loan spell with then National League side Hartlepool United. He helped Pools win promotion to the EFL via the Play-Offs, making 37 appearances in all competitions.
